Our physicians have extensive training and expertise in advanced gynecological care for abnormal pap smears, excessive uterine bleeding, endometriosis, pelvic relaxation and incontinence.

  • Colposcopy - A way of looking at the cervix through a special magnifying device to look for abnormalities. This is done when you have abnormal cells noted on a pap smear, to determine the severity and what treatment, if any, is indicated.
  • Cryotherapy- Application of extreme cold to destroy abnormal tissue. Cryotherapy usually treats mildly abnormal areas of the cervix.
  • Endometrial Biopsy - A small sample is extracted from the lining of the uterus. The sample is sent to the lab to evaluate for pre-cancer or cancer of the uterus. This procedure is for heavy bleeding/abnormal bleeding and abnormal ultrasound.
  • IUD insertion and removal - A type of birth control that is a small plastic device that is inserted and left inside the uterus to prevent pregnancy. Mirena progesterone is a five year treatment and Paragard copper (non- hormone) is a ten year treatment. It can be removed earlier if pregnancy is desired.
  • Leep (Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure) - A thin wire loop that cuts like a scalpel to remove a piece of the cervix due to abnormal cells. We can do this in the office or in the hospital as outpatient. LEEP is usually done to treat moderate or severe pre-cancer of the cervix.
  • Vulvar Biopsy - A small sample (usually less than 5 millimeters) taken from the external genitalia for evaluation of abnormal color, inflammation or concern for cancer.
