Instructions for A.M. Induction
Labor & Delivery
is located in the same building as our office, in The Suites at River Oaks. It is located on the 2nd floor and is accessible using the elevator. You will take a left out of the elevator and push the buzzer next to the double doors. You will need to give them your name, and they will open the door and get you checked in.
Do not have anything to eat or drink after midnight the night prior to your induction. The morning of the induction you may brush your teeth, and take any daily medications with a small sip of water. You will check-in to Labor & Delivery at 5:30a.m. Once you have arrived at the hospital the nurses will start your IV, do bloodwork, have you sign consents, and monitor the baby's heart rate. The doctor will be in to break your water around 7:30a.m. You will be able to get an epidural at some point during the morning, if you have elected to do so.
It is always a possibility that you may have to have a cesarean section. Please wash your abdomen with Hibiclens for a few days prior to your scheduled hospital admission/delivery. This is precautionary measure in case you do undergo a cesarean section. Hibiclens may be purchased at any pharmacy.
® is an antiseptic antimicrobial skin cleanser possessing bactericidal properties. Hibiclens contains 4% w/v chlorhexidine gluconate, a chemically unique cationic bisbiguanide with inactive ingredients: Fragrance, isopropyl alcohol 4%, purified water, Red 40, and other ingredients, in a mild, sudsing base adjusted to pH 5.0-6.5 for optimal activity and stability as well as compatibility with the normal pH of the skin.
