Labor & Delivery
is located in the same building as our office, in The Suites at River Oaks. It is located on the 2nd floor and is accessible using the elevator. You will take a left out of the elevator and push the buzzer next to the double doors. You will need to give them your name, and they will open the door and get you checked in.
Once your c-section date has been chosen and scheduled, you will be told what time you should arrive for check-in. You will need to arrive at Labor & Delivery at the selected time. You will be admitted, have an IV started, bloodwork done, and sign consent forms. A Foley catheter is usually placed after you are numb. You should not have anything to eat or drink after midnight the night prior to your c-section. If you have daily medication you take, you may take them will a sip of water. You may brush your teeth. Wash your abdomen with Hibiclens (this can be purchased at any pharmacy) for at least 3 days prior to your c-section.
® is an antiseptic antimicrobial skin cleanser possessing bactericidal properties. Hibiclens contains 4% w/v chlorhexidine gluconate, a chemically unique cationic bisbiguanide with inactive ingredients: Fragrance, isopropyl alcohol 4%, purified water, Red 40, and other ingredients, in a mild, sudsing base adjusted to pH 5.0-6.5 for optimal activity and stability as well as compatibility with the normal pH of the skin.
