Approved Medications

You may take the following medications during your pregnancy without consulting the office. You do not need a prescription for any of these medications/supplements listed.

Call the office if you have a fever over 100.5 for 8hrs

  • Tylenol regular or extra strength as directed.

  • Congestion: Mucinex (can be taken after 8 weeks gestation); Robitussin DM
    Zyrtec, Benadryl, Claritin, Coricidin HBP, Chlor-Trimeton

  • Sore throat: Chloraseptic spray, throat lozenges, Sucrets, warm salt water gargles

  • Stuffy nose: Nasacort, Flonase, Simply Saline spray

  • CONSTIPATION: Benefiber, Dulcolax, Docusate Sodium-Colace, Metamucil,
    Milk of Magnesia, Miralax

  • DIARRHEA: Imodium-AD—Do not use Pepto-Bismol

  • GAS: Gas X, Mylanta Gas, Mylicon, Phazyme

  • HEMORRHOIDS: Anusol HC, Preparation H, Tucks pads

  • INDIGESTION: Gaviscon, Maalox, Mylanta, Pepcid AC, Prilosec, Tagamet
    Rolaids, Tums---Do NOT use: Baking soda, Alka seltzer or Pepto Bismol

  • NAUSEA: Dramamine (non-drowsy), Emetrol, Vitamin B6, Ginger, Meclizine (Bonine, less drowsy Dramamine)

  • SLEEP: Benadryl, Doxylamine (Unisom) or Tylenol PM

  • HEADACHES: Magnesium glycinate or sulfate and Riboflavin
    Adequate hydration & rest, cold compress to head, dark/quiet room

  • YEAST: Monistat 7 cream/ovules; Clotrimazole or Lotrimin cream for external yeast

  • Muscle soreness: Bio freeze topically in moderation
